The Aviation is a classic cocktail prior to Prohibition that came up during WWI. It first appeared in a recipe book by Hugh Enslinn, "Recipes for Mixed Drinks". Similar to a gin sour, recipes for an Aviation vary, but one thing always stays consistent--it's pale purply hue.
